Digger Football adds two more
Montana Tech has announced the signing of two more football student-athletes. They are Jake Erpenbach of Great Falls, MT, and August Lorenzen of Jefferson City, MT.
Erpenbach, who was part of the AA state champion Great Falls C.M. Russell football team, was one of the top offensive lineman in the state of Montana in 2009. He garnered first-team All-Conference and All-State honors following the season, as well as selections to both the East-West Shrine Game and the Montana-North Dakota (Mon-Dak) All-Star Game that will be played this summer. Tech head coach Bob Green says of Erpenbach, "When we evaluated Jake, the word that comes to mind is consistency. Jake executes well time after time after time. He is fundamentally excellent. Plus, he is rock-hard physically. You could strike a match on the guy!"
Erpenbach plans to major in civil engineering.
Lorenzen has enjoyed a successful career at Jefferson High School in Boulder. The 6'3", 210-pound offensive and defensive lineman earned All-Conference honors on both sides of the ball for the 2009 season, and was picked to play in the Class B All-Star Game. "Augie is a big, rangy guy who runs to the football," Green says of Lorenzen. "He can rush the passer in a hurry. I like his instincts on defense. Coaches look for players who do not stay blocked when they watch high school gridders on tape. Augie never stays blocked."
Lorenzen will study petroleum engineering at Tech.
