Helena, Mont. - Carroll College soccer
coach David Thorvilson has announced the signing of Kailey Edgar and Christa
Saur to NAIA/Frontier Conference National Letters of Intent to play at Carroll
College in 2010-11.
Kailey Edgar from Star,
Idaho, has been playing for the Les Bois Soccer Association from the age of 9.
She brings a much decorated soccer resume to the Saints team; her club team has
won the state championship in 2001-2005 and 2007 to the present. Her team also won the US Club Super
Group Regional in 2008 and 2009 and finished second at the US Club National
Championship in 2008 and third in 2009. Edgar was also a member of the
Idaho State ODP team in 2005 and 2006 and is currently an All-Academic team
member and a varsity letterman as a starting central mid for her high school,
Eagle High. Edgar is a member of
the National Honor Society and has a 4.11 weighted GPA; she plans to major in
Biology/Pre-Med at Carroll College. "I am very pleased that Kailey has chosen
Carroll College for her academic and athletic needs. Her club team is
arguably one of the best in the region and her steady play in the midfield
should allow for an easy transition into the college game," said Coach
Thorvilson. Christa Saur will be coming to Carroll from
Boise, Idaho, where she attends Bishop Kelly High School. She played her
club ball for the Nationals Soccer Club before joining the Boise Capitals
Soccer Club in 2009. Christa was a team captain for Bishop Kelly High
School during her senior year, where her team was District Champs in 2007 and
2009, State Champs in 2007 and 2008, and Academic State Champs in 2008 and
2009. Sour was awarded All-Conference 1st team this last fall and won the
Coaches Award in 2008, averaging 23 goals per season. Christa has maintained a
3.35 GPA and plans to major in Biology/Pre-Med at Carroll College. "Christa came to our camp last summer and got
the chance to play with many of our current team members. She is a very
athletic and versatile player with good speed and could fill many different
spots on the field for us," stated Coach Thorvilson, "I am eager to see her
develop in our system of play." These last two ladies will wrap up the 2010
recruiting class, though the women's soccer team might still look to sign a
goalkeeper into the 2010 class. The Saints will check in for preseason
practice on August 10th and will open regular season play at home on August
25th.
