SALT LAKE CITY - The Westminster women's cross country team has added two recruits for the 2010 season. Head coach Craig Binkley announced today that Ellie Layman and Chelsey Fraser have each signed a Frontier Conference letter of intent to join the Westminster squad. They become the first two recruits signed for next season by Binkley.

Fraser will join the team from Emmett High School in Emmett, Idaho. During her senior season, Fraser ran a 20:45 in the 5K and 2:26 in the 800m. She carries a 4.0 GPA and is on the Honor Roll.

Layman will join the Griffins from Ellensburh High School in Ellensburg, Washington. She ran a personal best 20:16 in the 3-mile and was a three-time qualifier for the Washington State Cross Country meet. Layman also earned varsity letters in basketball and softball. She carries a 3.99 GPA and has been a Scholar Athlete every quarter at Ellensburg High School.

"I'm excited about Chelsea and Ellie joining us next year," Binkley stated. "They are both great students and have a tremendous amount of potential as college athletes. I certainly feel that these two will help take our program to higher level in the years to come."

Westminster finished fifth at the 2009 Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships. They posted a second place finish at the Carroll College Invitational in 2009. Westminster will also be adding outdoor track for the 2011 season and it will also be under the direction of coach Binkley.
