SALT LAKE CITY -- The Westminster women's soccer
team opens the 2010 home campaign on Tuesday, August 24 with an 11 a.m.
game
against Northwest Nazarene. They also
welcome Westmont to Dumke Field on Saturday, August 28 for a noon
kickoff.
Westminster heads into the home games with a 0-1-1
record after road games at Utah Valley and Idaho State. The Griffins have failed to score through two
games this season; however they earned a scoreless draw at Idaho State last
Monday. Westminster is 14-6-2 all-time
on Dumke Field and has posted a 2-1 record in home openers.
Heather Hillam and Tanisia Wilson lead the Griffins
with three shot attempts apiece. Wilson
leads the squad with two shots on goal.
Corie Walch is the only other Griffins with multiple shot attempts and
she has two. Sarah Swenson and Jessica
Harris have each put one shot on goal.
Lindsay Bekken has played every minute in goal and
posted a 1.35 goals against average. Bekken
has recorded nine saves and turned away 75% of the shots she has faced. She picked up her second career shutout in
the 0-0 draw at Idaho State.

Dumke
Field All Westminster women's soccer home games are played
at Dumke Field on the campus of Westminster College. Gates open one hour prior to the start of the
game. The spectator entrance is located
on the northwest side of the field.
Spectators are asked to remain in the bleacher area on the west side of
the field and not to cross the field at any time during the event. Pets are NOT allowed into the Dumke Field
facility at any time.

Kick • The Griffins have gone 2-1 all-time in home
openers including a 2-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan last season.
• Westminster is 4-6 all-time in the month of

Scouting
Northwest Nazarene Northwest Nazarene comes to Salt Lake City for an
exhibition game with the Griffins. They
are coming off a 3-12-4 season in 2009 and they went 1-10-1 in the Great
Northwest Athletic Conference. Stacey
Beckman led the 2009 Crusaders with 11 points and five goals. Marie Smith tallied four goals and nine
points while Sarah Staropoli and Kendra Courcy scored three goals apiece. Tanya Zickefoose recorded 116 saves in 18
games between the pipes.

Scouting
Westmont Westmont College will visit Salt Lake City for the
second game of the year for the Warriors.
They open 2010 season on Tuesday, August 24 when they host Trinity
Western. Westmont went 6-8-2 in 2009 and
finished seventh in the Golden State Athletic Conference with a 4-5-1
record. Aaolani Rueff returns in 2010
after scoring a team-best six goals last season. Jameisha Washington also returns after
scoring four goals in 2009 and seven in her career. Roxanne Love returns between the pipes after
posting 69 saves and a 1.09 GAA last season.

Dumke
Advantage Westminster has gone 14-6-2 over the three season of
play on Dumke Field. Last season they
went 4-2-1 with one of those losses coming against 15th-ranked The Master's
College. They have outscored the
opposition 33-21 in those 22 games and posted nine shutouts.
Scoring
Drought Westminster has been shutout in three consecutive
games dating back to the final game of 2009.
The team has gone 0-2-1 during that stretch after a 0-0 draw at Idaho
State last Monday. They have currently
gone 332 consecutive minutes without scoring over four games.
Between
the Pipes Lindsay Bekken assumes the role of starting
goalkeeper in 2010. Bekken appeared in
10 games while making four starts as a freshman in 2009 and posted a 2-2-1
record. She has played all 200 minutes
this season and has made nine saves with one shutout. Her 75% save percentage has led to a 1.35
goals against average.
Around
the Conference Westminster is currently the only Frontier
Conference team to play a game in 2010.
Carroll begins play on Wednesday, August 25 when they host Oregon
Tech. Carroll did claim a 1-0 scrimmage
win over Montana last week. Great Falls
hosts Oregon Tech on Thursday, August 26 while Rocky Mountain welcomes Oregon
Tech to Billings on Saturday, August 28.
Carroll will face Concordia (Ore.) on the road on August 29.
Unaffiliated
Information The Dakota Athletic Conference, Midlands Collegiate
Athletic Conference, and Frontier Conference will combine to offer one
automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships in 2010. The top-4 teams in this group will advance to
the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament with the winner receiving the automatic
berth.
Looking
Ahead The Griffins head to South Florida for Labor Day
Weekend to play two road contests. The
trip opens on Saturday, September 4 in West Palm Beach against Northwood. They conclude on Monday, September 6 at St.
Thomas.
