SALT LAKE CITY - The Westminster women's basketball
team released its schedule for the 2010-11 season on Tuesday afternoon.
The two-time defending Frontier Conference
champions will play 14 games inside the Behnken Field House during the
upcoming
season along with three road trips to California. The schedule features
four 20-win teams along
with three that qualified for NAIA postseason action last season.
The Griffins open the campaign with three games in
four days in California. They begin at
San Diego Christian on October 29 before an October 30 game at Vanguard. On November 1, Westminster visits NAIA
newcomer La Sierra in Riverside, California.
The home opener comes on November 5 against
Concordia (Ore.) at the Westminster Tipoff Classic. The Griffins will face Warner Pacific on
November 6 in the finale of the Tipoff Classic.
Cal Baptist invades the Behnken Field House on November 11 as part of
the Westminster Fall Classic.
Westminster will then face the College of Idaho on November 12 and
Pacific Union on November 13 as part of the Fall Classic.
November 19 opens a four-game road trip with a game
at William Jessup in Rocklin, California.
The next night Westminster faces Simpson in Redding, California. The road trip continues on November 26
against Whitworth in Caldwell, Idaho as part of the Lady Yote Classic. The next night Westminster plays George Fox
to complete the trip to Caldwell.
The Griffin Invitational begins against William
Jessup on December 3 in the Behnken Field House. Westminster will then face The Master's
College on December 4 to complete the tournament. The Griffins then play two exhibition games
against NCAA DI foes Utah on December 6 and Wyoming on December 11, both on the
road.
The non-conference slate concludes in Santa Barbara,
California with games against Westmont and Cal Baptist on December 29 and 30
respectively.
The Griffins will play five of the first seven Frontier
Conference games at home staring on January 6 against Montana Tech. On January 8, Montana Western comes to Salt
Lake City before road games at Carroll and Rocky Mountain on January 13 and 15
respectively.
A three-game home stand begins against Lewis-Clark
State on January 22 in a rematch of the Frontier Conference Tournament
championship from the past two seasons.
The home stand continues on January 27 against great Falls and January
29 versus Montana State-Northern.
The conference schedule then flips sites for the
second half with the Griffins starting at Montana Western on February 4 and
Montana Tech on February 5. The second
half's home games come against Rocky Mountain and Carroll on February 10 and
12. Westminster completes the regular
season at Lewis-Clark State on February 19, at Montana State-Northern on
February 25, and at Great Falls on February 26.
The Frontier Conference tournament will be played at
the home site of the top seeds in each round and begins on March 2 with the
semi-final games being played on March 5. The championship game will be hosted
by the best remaining seed on February 8. The NAIA Division I Women's
Basketball National Championship will be played on March 16-22 in Jackson,
Tennessee.
