PRESCOT, Ariz. - The University of Great Falls (UGF) wrestling team, in their third meet in three days, shutout Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 42-0.

"I am extremely pleased with the way this team responded after Wednesday night," head coach Caleb Scheaffer said. "Carranza got us started tonight and it was contagious." Scheaffer added.

At the 133-pound match, Argo senior Luis Carranza beat Trace Gilknecht 8-5. Anthony Varnell, ranked No.1 in NAIA, beat Colin Merkley with a 7-1 decision at 149 pounds.

The 157-pound match, Ryan Leonard, ranked ninth in the NAIA, scored a 7-1 decision over Matt Hamilton. In the second closest match of the night, 10th ranked Noah Hatton beat Trent Gardner in an 18-13 decision.

The next four matches were won by UGF with pins. In the 174-pound match, Shawn Lau pinned Jose Cruz in 4:27. At 184 Brock Picard pinned Troy Kilgore in 2:49. At the 197-pound match, No. 3 Kamron Jackson pinned Shawn Michalek in 1:51.  At the 285- pound match, fifth ranked Sears Tiernan pinned Garett Foster in 6:27.

The closest match was the first of the evening as UGF's Danny Luttrell, ranked No.9 in the nation, beat Embry-Riddle's Sean Silva, ranked second in the nation, 3-2.

"This was a remarkable meet. Danny Luttrell beating the number two guy in the country, wow! What a way to end a meet." Scheaffer concluded.

The Argonauts conclude their four meets in four days saga on Saturday at Grand Canyon University. With the win over Embry-Riddle the Argos improve their dual record to 11-4.
