Men's Basketball - Mon, Jan 23, 2012
Montana State-Northern fell one spot while Montana Western moved up two spots in the fifth regular-season edition of the 2011 - 12 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
Northern suffered their first conference loss as they split their weekend road trip, losing to Carroll and beating Rocky Mountain College. The Lights dropped to No. 13 in the latest poll.
Montana Western held off Montana Tech 65-61 in the lone game of the weekend. The Bulldogs, 16-5 on the season and 4-1 in the Frontier, moved to No. 20.
Westminster College received votes in the poll, but not enough to move into the Top 25.
As the NAIA's only undefeated team remaining, Shorter (Ga.) maintained its top ranking in the fifth regular-season edition of the 2011 - 12 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. One week after its first top billing in school history, the Hawks were the unanimous selection with 12 first-place nods and 312 points in this installment. Shorter made its No. 1 debut by handing then-No. 4 Southern Poly (Ga.) a 74-65 loss on Jan. 19. That win helped push the Hawks to 18-0 on the year.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference/independent/unaffiliated groups. The next Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll will be announced on Jan. 30.
