Two student-athletes from Butte, Mont. have signed Frontier
Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play fooball for the University of
Montana Western according to head coach Rich Ferris.
Scott Lacey is a 5’11”, 205 lb linebacker. In 2007, he recorded 82 solo tackles and 73 assisted tackles. He had eight forced fumbles with six recovered.
Lacey earned second team all-conference and honorable mention all-state honors as an inside linebacker. He was selected team captain.
“This is a great pick-up for our program,” said Ferris. “Scott is another tough Butte kid and will be a great fit for our program. We really look forward to watching Scott grow and contribute to Bulldog football.”
In addition to football, he also participates in track. He is a Big Brothers and Sisters volunteer, a referee for Little Guy Football and his school representative for Crimestoppers.
Lacey will graduate this spring from Butte High School and will major in secondary education. He is the son of Dan and Laurie Lacey.
Matt Rundle is a 6’4”, 315 lb offensive lineman. He earned all-conference honors this past season
“Rundle is a true Butte kid, he is hard-nosed and willing to out-work anyone on the field,” said Montana Western offensive line coach Mike Schmidt. “He plays with great effort and is a solid addition to the Bulldog line.”
Rundle also competes in weight lifting and is the basketball manager. In the classroom, he maintains a 3.4 GPA and earned academic all-state honors and was selected to honor roll.
