Three student-athletes from Montana have signed Frontier
Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play football for the University
of Montana Western according to head coach Rich Ferris.
Zack Rowan is a 6’1”, 165 lb wide receiver from Libby, Mont. He will graduate this spring from Libby High School. During his senior season, he caught 38 passes for 946 yards and 11 touchdowns. During his career, he had two kick returns for touchdowns, one punt return for a touchdown and three interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Rowan earned all-conference and all-state honors and was selected to play in East-West Shrine All-Star game.
“Zach’s speed and athletic ability make him a huge threat on the football field,” said Ferris. “I am very excited about Zach’s future as a Bulldog. He has the athletic potential and work ethic to be one of the top wide receivers on our team.”
Rowan also participated in baseball, basketball and track. He earned all-conference and all-state honors in track.
Rowan will major in elementary education. He is the son of Craig and Terri Rowan.
Luke Wildung is a 6’3”, 200 lb wide receiver from Stanford, Mont. He will graduate this spring from Stanford High School. In his senior season, he caught 152 passs for 732 yards and 19 touchdowns. On defense, he had 103 tackles, 13 quarterback sacks and nine interceptions.
For his career, Wildung caught 317 passes for 1489 yards and 39 touchdowns. He rushed for 182 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded 296 tackles, 53 quarterback sacks and 25 interceptions.
Wildung earned all-conference honors on both offense and defense his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He was an all-state selection his junior and senior year and was selected to play in the Class C All-Star game.
“After an outstanding high school career, Luke is bringing his multi-dimensional abilities to UMW,” said Ferris. “Luke exhibits great versatility which enables him to excel at many positions on the football field.”
In addition to football, he also participated in basketball and track. In track, he earned all-conference and all-state honors.
Wildung will major in secondary education. He is the son of Scott and Tracy Wildung.
Kyle Winter is a 6’3”, 200 lb defensive end from Kalispell, Mont. He will graduate this spring from Flathead High School.
In his senior season, he recorded 45 tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks, two pass break-ups, one caused fumble and seven quarterback hurries. He was named his team’s Most Improved Defensive Player.
“Kyle had a great senior season,” said Ferris. “He was integral part of Flathead’s success on the football field. He can get off on ball movement and is very tenacious on defense.”
Winter earned academic all-conference honors. He was very active in several service clubs including Big Brothers and Sisters, Evergreen Fire Department School projects and Montana National Guard charity projects. He is a member of the Business Professionals of America.
