Janie Rayback, who ended last season as the starting center at Weber State University, is transferring to Rocky Mountain College to play her senior season of basketball.
The 6-foot-4 Rayback, who is from Afton, Wyo., started the final 12 games of the season for the Big Sky Conference school. She played around 18 minutes a game, and wound up averaging five points and three rebounds per contest for the year.
"She's a big-time player," said Rocky head coach Brian Henderson. "We're excited to have her come in and help us."
Henderson said Rayback "was looking for something a little different" in deciding to transfer to Rocky and play her final season with the Battlin' Bears.
She scored a season-high 15 points in both meetings against Montana State last season. She tallied a career-high 18 points against Idaho as a sophomore and had 13 points and six rebounds in a one-point win at Montana during her freshman season.
"She moves well, has got great hands and a great understanding for the game," said Henderson. "We believe she will be a dominant force in this league."
Rayback, 21, was one of three captains for the 12-16 Wildcats last season. She appeared in 85 games during her three-year career at the Ogden, Utah, school and started in 23.
"She is a proven leader with her being a team captain at Weber," said Henderson.
Rayback, who shot 48.5 percent from the field last season, was an all-state player at Star Valley High School in Afton and was chosen to play in the 2005 Montana-Wyoming All-Star Basketball Series following her senior year.
