In a pre-season poll of Frontier Conference women's basketball coaches, last year's regular season and conference tournament champion Lewis-Clark State was picked to win the 2008-2009 league title.
Carroll College was second in the balloting followed by Westminster College, Rocky Mountain, Montana State-Northern, Montana Western, Montana Tech and the University of Great Falls.
Lewis-Clark received six first place votes, Carroll College two and Rocky Mountain one.
In this year's women's poll, there was one ballot that gave both Carroll and L-C a first place vote and one ballot that gave both MSU-Northern and Rocky a third place vote. In the Carroll/L-C ballot, the points for first and second were added together and divided by two with each team given half of the total. The same formula used for the RMC/Northern third/fourth ballot.
