Jeff Edwards, a 6'11" post player from Butte, Mont., has signed a
Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball for the
University of Montana Western, head men's basketball coach Steve Keller
announced today.
Edwards transfers from Montana State University.
"We are excited that Jeff has joined our program at Montana Western," Keller said. "At 6'11" he will be a defensive presence in the post for the next four years. We know he is well schooled in the post playing for John Thatcher at Butte High and redshirting under Brad Huse at Montana State. We feel Jeff will be a dominant player in the Frontier."
Edwards is a 2007 graduate of Butte High School where he was a three-time all-state selection. During his prep career, he averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds and six block shots per game.
Edwards was selected to play in the Montana/Wyoming All-Star Game and was a McDonald All-American nominee.
Edwards is the son of Lisa Edwards of Kalispell, Mont., Jim and Chris Edwards of Helena, Mont. and the grandson of James and Barbara Fisher of Butte, Mont.
He will major in elementary education.
