Mariann Fretheim, a 6'0" middle blocker from Shelby, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter to play volleyball for the University of Montana Western, head coach Katie Howells announced today.
"I am looking forward to having Mariann in our program." Howells said. "She is a very hard worker in the classroom and on the court."
Fretheim will graduate this spring from Shelby High School. She earned all-conference honors in volleyball. In basketball she set the single game school record for rebounds and set school records for blocked shots for single game, season and career.
In the classroom she maintains a 3.28 GPA and was selected to the Honor Roll.
"I am really like the block schedule system." Fretheim said. " Also I like the atmosphere on campus and the small town atmosphere."
She will major in social science broadfield. Fretheim is the daughter of Mel and Lynda Fretheim.
